X-factor uses the power of televison, they gain their money from votes on the show as audiences ring in to save their favourite act. This is the way they get music out towards the audience because the old way of music in the shops is not popular anymore as people are into downloading music from the interenet and knowing about it from the interent.
80% drop off of album and cd sales. Record companies therefore don't gain any money from this way, the most money is now made from live preformances and touring.
